1. Newest Leapster Toy Explorer
The new Leapster Explorer is the must-have gift of the season. Kids
can use it to play games and to read books. There are game cartridges
plus adults can download new stuff online for the hand-held game. The
only drawback is that games from other Leapsters are not compatible.
Without it being backwards compatible, the Leapster Explorer is not the
best choice for kids who already have a Leapster and parents who've
invested $24 a pop for games. Choose this hand-held gaming and
educational system for kids who do not already have a hand-held
Leapster.
2. A Portable DVD Player for Kids
The Fisher-Price Kid-Tough DVD player is not her older brother's DVD
player. This one is made for rough and tumble kids. It even has its own
stand for easing viewing. Big buttons make it easy to use. Kids as young
as three can and will use this fabulous toy.
3. Kid-Tough Digital Camera
Preschoolers and Kindergarteners love taking pictures. Now you can't
yell at them for "wasting film." Your son can have his very own digital
camera. The camera is a cinch to use (don't worry, he'll explain it to
you). It comes with a cord that hooks directly into a Mac or PC where
you can view pictures and choose which ones to print (on an existing
printer). The only caveat is you need fresh batteries in order to use
the flash, and the flash is a must for any indoor photos taken with this
kids' camera.
4. Audio CD Player
Bring music to their lives with a portable CD player. A hand-held CD
player with earbuds or headphones is not always the best choice for kids
under six, as they may play the music too loudly. The Audio CD
Player for Early Childhood is for children up to age five. There are
speakers, big buttons, and best of all, a sing-along microphone. Maybe
you'll help inspire the next American Idol!
5. Vtech Laptop is Perfect
The Vtech Electronics Tote and Go Laptop is fun and educational.
There are music games and activities to encourage letter recognition.
Parents will be happy that it has a volume control. Kids will learn very
early mouse skills, with a real working mouse that slides back and
forth and works when they click it. Don't be fooled by the low price or
small screen, this laptop toy will keep your child amused while it
teaches.
